Guide to Abseiling in Melbourne and Victoria
Abseiling, also known as rappelling, is going down a very steep slope while holding on to a rope that is fastened to the top of the slope. The rope passes through devices such as a rack or a figure of 8 to increase the friction on the rope to the point where the downward speed can be controlled comfortably by the abseiler.
