Yarra Valley Trail (Lilydale)

Yarra Valley Trail (Lilydale)

The Yarra Valley Trail is a 40+ kilometre long trail that will link Lilydale, Yarra Glen, Healesville and join into the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail.

The trail is being constructed in stages. Stage 1 is a 12 km shared trail using the existing rail corridor connecting Lilydale to Yarra Glen. This stage of the Yarra Valley Trail follows the alignment of the railway line between Lilydale and Yarra Glen that operated for almost one hundred years until it closed in 1980.

Stage 1A (7.5 km) from Lilydale to Yering Station on Macintyre Lane has been completed and is now open.

This part of the trail has a gravel surface and is flat with lovely views which is suited to a family walk or cycle. The trail starts near 124 Beresford Road in Lilydale (at the Warburton Trail) and ends at the intersection of MacIntyre Lane and Melba Highway. There is no water along the route.

Stage 1B (4.5 km) from Yering to Yarra Glen is expected to be finished by late 2022. This stage will feature new bridges to replace the heritage bridges that were destroyed in the 2009 Black Saturday fires as well as a new bridge over the Yarra River.
