Wyreena Community Arts Centre Playground, Croydon
An enchanting play space which has a structure in one corner with a big colourful tunnel slide, dual wave slides and a small single wave slide as the crown jewels and an array of captivating wooden sculptures and musical instruments.
You won't find a guitar or violin here - think more like a cute metal birdie which spins around to make sounds. Bang it, pull it, twist it, turn it - you'll make beautiful music with these instruments.
The main structure has ramp access and there are soft paths around the equipment.
The playground is most suited to younger kids with a couple of elements for older kids.
Scattered around the playground area and under the shady trees are lots of wooden sculptures of animals and birds. What can you find? Our list started with a parrot, dinosaur, koala, possum, snake (non venomous), owl and wombat.
There is also a row of four swings (one with a harness), rooster springer, two stand-on spinners and a see-saw. There is also a large kaleidoscope, which is sure to bring back childhood memories for parents.
There are a fair number of shaded and unshaded tables and seats scattered about and a small grassy area which is not suitable for ball games.
The Conservatory Cafe next to the playground is open Mon - Fri 10am-4pm, Sat - Sun 9am - 3pm (subject to change).
Toilets are open from 9am to 6pm (Mon-Fri) and to 5pm on Sat/Sun.
