Wunderkammer (Central Melbourne)
Wunderkammer is one of Melbourne's shopping highlights, stocking gifts and souvenirs for any age. We are also very well known for the rare and unusual, catering for the discerning collector.
Wunderkammer comes from the German for 'Cabinet of Curiosities'. Over the years people would find odd, strange and fantastic items and assemble these inside usually a glass fronted wooden cabinet. The tradition continues today.
Products include minerals & fossils, insects & butterflies, globes and maps, natural history and scientific curiosities.

Review:
This is an amazing shop of scientific and natural curiosities. It won't be to everyone's taste since it includes a number of stuffed animals and birds. However, for someone with a taste for the unusual or wonderment, it is full of interest. The exact stock changes over time but when we visited it included dinosaur teeth, woolly mammoth hair, old surgical instruments, dental equipment, old equipment such as a portable potentiometer, telescopes, skulls including a crocodile, minerals, books which are going to appeal to a tiny proportion of people e.g. Extrasystoles and Allied Arrhythmias", stingray barbs, shells, tiny preserved puffer fish, bones, old bottles, anatomical models, insects, globes and maps, meteorites, eggs and animal teeth. Kids would be captivated in this shop.
