Woolshed Flat - Wychitella Nature Conservation Reserve

Wychitella Nature Conservation Reserve is located near Wedderburn in Victoria's Golden Triangle, and is an ideal place for prospecting.

This reserve is home to a number of significant flora and fauna populations, including 12 threatened species.

Prospecting


The Wychitella Nature Conservation Reserve is broken into 13 different blocks, with prospecting ONLY permitted in selected areas; as shown on the map below. Prospectors must hold a current miner's right at all times while prospecting.

Help to minimise impacts in the following ways:
  • Prospect only in the permitted areas. (Refer to map).
  • Drive your vehicle only on the tracks and roads opened to the public.
  • Park your vehicle only on the roadside. Take all rubbish home.
  • Minimise any damage to vegetation including the ground layer. Restore the ground as you found it - back fill and holes you dig.
You need a miner's right for recreational prospecting in Victoria. You must have your miner's right with you at all times when prospecting. Miner's rights are only available online at www.service.vic.gov.au/services/earth-resources.
