Wonyip - South Gippsland Tank Adventures

South Gippsland Tank Adventures comprises a collection of armoured fighting vehicles for you to view and ride, ranging from WWII era to modern day vehicles and some under restoration.

South Gippsland Tank Adventures runs tank adventures to suit all ages. 52-tonne Centurion Adventure, Complete Tank Adventure, Family Adventure, group, individual adventures, or tailored adventures.

A total of eleven tanks for you to explore and ride in depending on which ones are operational on the day.

Vehicles in collection range from WW2 to modern day armoured fighting vehicles. South Gippsland Tank Adventures' aim is to restore and preserve armour from any era or origin to within as complete original and running condition as possible.

Your host, Cameron Stone has had several years experience as a Leopard Tank Crewman with the Australian Defence Force serving in the 1st armoured regiment.

About the Experience

South Gippsland Tank Adventures is located in the beautiful Strzelecki Ranges on a 400 acre farm surrounded by lush rainforest approximately 40 minutes drive from Welshpool and Toora.

When you arrive at Tank Adventures you are welcomed with tea, coffee and biscuits at the sign in. Overall, we try to keep the whole experience as light hearted and casual as possible.

You are then led on a personal guided tour of our museum which includes our ammunition and uniforms displays and various other paraphernalia Cameron has collected over the years.

Then it's on to a guided tour through our armoured vehicles inside and out (you can actually climb in, raise guns, turn turrets etc). Your knowledgeable host will answer any questions you have. This part takes about 1.5 hours depending how many questions you have.

We then take you out for a ride in a tank (usually about 20 minutes) on our track through the bush and mud. The tank type depends in which Adventure you have booked.

So all up the whole Adventure takes approximately 2 hours. The exceptions are the Complete Adventure (6 hrs) and tailored Adventures by prior agreement.

Adventures

52 tonne Centurion Adventure
Escorted tour of our vehicle collection, inside and out, and a closer look at the 52 tonne Centurion tank.
20 minute ride in the Centurion along a bush track course. You will ride as Crew Commander or Loader, giving you the real tank crew experience while on the move.

Family Adventure
Wonyip - South Gippsland Tank Adventures

Escorted tour of our vehicle collection, inside and out, including a 20 minute ride along bush tracks in either the FV432, Saracen, Stricker, Half Track or MRV.

Group Adventure
Escorted tour of our vehicle collection, inside and out, including a 20 minute ride for each person along bush tracks in either the FV432 or MRV. Tea and coffee supplied, byo lunch/ meals with some cooking facilities available including a BBQ. We can also bring out the 52 tonne Centurion Tank for rides at an additional cost.

Individual Adventure

Escorted tour of our vehicle collection, inside and out, including a 20 minute ride along bush tracks in either the FV432, Stricker or MRV.

Jagdpanzer Kanone
Escorted tour of our vehicle collection, inside and out, and a closer look at the Jagdpanzer Kanone tank.
20 minute ride in the Jagdpanzer along bush tracks. You will ride as Crew Commander or Loader, giving you the real tank crew experience while on the move.

Complete Tank Adventure
Approx. 6 hour adventure from 10am to 4pm. However the day is tailored to be a more one on one experience and something you will never forget! Corporate day out or just spoil yourself.

Escorted tour of our vehicle collection, inside and out, including a 20 minute ride for each person. Plus a ride of the 52 tonne Centurion Tank and 2 other vehicles of your choice for an additional 20 minutes each. Choose from either the FV432, Saracen, Striker, Halftrack, MRV or Brengun Carrier.

BBQ lunch supplied with tea and coffee all day - fridge available onsite for your own beverages later in the day while talking tanks. During the day you will also see all vehicles under restoration.

Opening Hours:

Open by appointment only and available most days and weekends excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
