Bridge Creek - Wild Dog Creek Falls (Mount Samaria State Park)

Bridge Creek - Wild Dog Creek Falls (Mount Samaria State Park)

Set in tall, shady eucalypt forest, Mount Samaria State Park offers a cool and quiet retreat for beautiful walks, camping and picnicking. The Mount Samaria range incorporates a variety of scenery with spectacular vistas over the Victorian Alps, granite outcrops, high waterfalls and historic remains.

Start at the carpark on the Mount Samaria road. This carpark is north of the Spring Creek Sawmill campground. Follow the track to the west past the Wild Dog Falls campground which is set next to a pristine little creek (800m). There are picnic tables, fireplaces and toilets at the campground. After this point the track, which is rated a grade 3, becomes much steeper with lots of steps. When you reach the lookout at the top of Wild Dog Creek Falls, you can take in the falls and the panoramic views over Lake Nillahcootie and the Strathbogie Ranges. The return walk from the car park is 3.0km. See the following map to get your orientation in the park.

There is an option to continue onto Back Creek Falls.
