Waverley Park Dog Off Leash Area (Malvern East)
The entire reserve, most of which is occupied by an oval, is off-leash. In the north west corner is a playground with bin and table. There are trees lining the outside of the reserve with the thickest area being the north side. The Bert Healey Pavilion is in the north east corner with a bin, seats and water tap with bowl. In the south east corner are cricket nets. Most of the reserve is fenced with only a few entry / exit points, including to busy Waverley Road. There is another bin in the south west corner.
History of the park - Situated on Crown Land, Waverley Park was reserved as a public park in 1904 by Malvern Council. A swamp was drained from the site in the 1920s and a sports ground and pavilion were developed. Some of the land was set aside as a public golf course, which opened in 1931.
