Waverley Gem Club of Victoria (Mount Waverley)
The club has a workshop including all the machines necessary for cutting cabochons, opals and faceted gems and the means of setting them in jewelry (silver & goldsmithing, lost wax casting and wire wrapping).
The workshop is open four times weekly for members to use this equipment to produce their works of art. A substantial library is available to members and the club's computer holds additional resource information.
There is an active group interested in the collection and display of mineral specimens.
Junior group - In July 2007 the Waverley Gem Club established a group for juniors (children aged from 12 to 16). It is known as the Mini Rockafellas and is similar to a group that existed several years ago but which lapsed. The group aims to teach children about minerals, geology and the methods of working with gem materials. Here are some pictures of the group in action.
