Wangoom - Hopkins Falls

Wangoom - Hopkins Falls

The Hopkins River meanders through the landscape until it reaches Wangoom where it plunges down a rocky escarpment before making its way to the sea at Warrnambool.

A viewing platform offers fantastic viewing and photo opportunities. The Hopkins Falls are most spectacular in winter and spring when rainfall is usually at its peak. In summer the water flows over the falls at a much slower pace.

You can also enjoy a picnic in the reserve adjacent to the falls with gas BBQs and toilets provided.

The falls are located 13 km north east of Warrnambool.

Review:

Near the parking area are toilets and some unshaded tables. There are two viewing platforms above the falls with a number of information boards. The base viewing area is a 105m walk on a gravel path with steps.

When we visited in November there was a lot of water flowing and it was an impressive sight. The falls are very wide and torrents of water spread out across the whole face.
