Wandana Reserve Playground, Wandana Crescent, Mooroolbark
The playground has some indigenous stories woven through it. A giant frog looks over the playground with a wooden structure with big curved tunnel, rope walkway and curved slide.
Also a spinning cup with hand wheel, climbing structure with horizontal net, rope tunnel and monkey bars, birds nest swing and two standard swings.
Unshaded table and seats, water tap, outdoor gym and a series of ponds about 50m away.
The indigenous stories are:
Mo-yarra, a creative being, had attempted to reduce the size of the great Moorool, by carving a channel but was blocked by Baw Baw and his brother Donna Buang mountains .
In ancient times the lands of Mooroolbark were part of the great wetland known as 'moorool-bik', a place of great water.
Guided by Bunjil and Waa Mo-yarra teamed up with another dreamtime being named Yan Yan. Together they carved their channel into the land we know as Port Phillip Bay, which Kulin people had known as Narm. That is how the great Moorool had been reduced in size and how the Yarra and Narm were created.
