Barkers Creek - Walmer State Forest Mountain Bike Trails
The forest has a lot of fast flowing single trail in an open woodland forest with an occasional technical feature. There are a variety of trails and terrain within easy reach of Castlemaine.
In total there are around 60km of singletrack through box-ironbark woodland areas of historic gold mining activity. Undulating terrain with generally flowy trails on smooth, sometimes loose, dirt surface. Some small drop-offs, rocky sections and steeper climbs and descents. (source - bancoora.com)
Note: The trails in the forest are not currently part of an official Mountain Bike Park. There are plans in progress to create a mountain bike network of 'about 50 kilometres' in the Walmer State Forest.
There are 4 main trail loops:
Baco loop 10.1 km. (Green beginner level)
Switch loop 6.06 km. (Blue intermediate level)
Woodbrook loop 20.67 km. (Blue intermediate level)
Ken's loop 18.98 km. (Blue intermediate level)
