The Walhalla Historic Area is a rugged, late-19th-century gold mining town with old-fashioned buildings, shops and a museum.
Walhalla Tramline Walk
Follow an old timber tramline along the contours of the Valley of the Gods with flora, fauna, historic gold mines and great views of Walhalla. There's a short loop for those with limited time, and wheelchair access if you join at the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine car park. Duration is 15 minutes to 1 hour.
Thompson River Canoe Trail
The Thomson River Canoe Trail winds through a deep river valley from the Thomson Dam to the Walhalla Road Bridge near Rawson. The grade 2 rapids are perfect for first time paddlers and rafters.
Access for Dogs:
Dogs are not allowed.
Getting there
Walhalla is 184km east of Melbourne. Access is via Princes Freeway (M1) to Moe, north through Erica (C466), turn east to Rawson then left to Walhalla (C461).
