Village Square Park Playground, Freshwater Crescent, Wantirna South
A community gathering place which incorporates a playground, shelter with tables, basketball court, water tap, some grassy areas, wetlands area (to look at) plus unshaded tables, BBQs and seats.
A soft mound overlooks the area which has a structure on top which has a long straight slide. From this height, long and straight means FAST. The structure also has a scrambling wall, fireman's pole, metal ladder and a little rope bridge leads from a set of steps below. Under the structure is a little shaded sandpit which is a great design idea. A set of dual wave slides run down the side of the mound.
There is also a bird's nest swing, big tunnel rope climbing frame, a big unshaded sandpit and giant metal poles to hit clangers against. If you've got a musically talented family, there are opportunities to make beautiful music.
There is lovely landscaping throughout the playground. There are some 'temporary' looking metal barriers around the wetlands area which has deep water.
Next to the playground is an outdoor gym with a sitting bike, leg swing, elliptical trainer and low push-up bars. About 100m away on the other side of the lake is another gym station with three horizontal bars of different heights, leg swing, body twist and pull-up.
