Victory Square Reserve Playground, Ashleigh Road, Armadale
A fenced playground which is beautifully landscaped and suited to younger kids. There is a main wooden structure with sloping scrambling walls, ladders, climbing wall and two metal slides. Three different swings including a birds nest swing, lots of rock and log steppers and an open cubby house with a metal frame surrounded by plantings.
Three unshaded tables, unshaded seats and a water tap. Located next to a dog off leash area.
This park is the site of 16 timber houses built in 1919 to accommodate war widows and their children. Each house cost 500 pounds to build, raised through public subscription. The houses were built in six months, with significant help from volunteers attending the working bees every Saturday morning. The houses were demolished in the early 1970s.
