Livvi's Place Edgebrook Playground, Merribrook Boulevard, Clyde
A delightful fully fenced all-abilities play space. The park has been divided into four zones which pay homage to Clyde's natural history - Birds in Flight, Lettuce Farm, Amphibian zone and the Aquatic zone.
The playground has a gradual slope and at the top of the hill is a big shelter with three tables, BBQs, water tap, device charging point and toilets. A path winds past some fish sculptures on poles, a forest of poles with inviting hemispherical seats and a water pump which discharges water onto a rock, through a sluice gate and into a channel.
At the next level down is a sandpit fringed by a rock wall, little forest where you can find logs with lizard sculptures and a big yellow mound with three in-ground trampolines, soft little bumps to help climbing and three metal slides under shade sails.
Across a path is another expanse of softfall with mounds, a spinning carousel and big pipe to crawl through.
At the bottom of the slope is the most exciting place in the playground - the Flight Deck. There are multiple ways to get to that elusive deck where a twisty yellow slide awaits - there is a long rope net tunnel which could be climbed up, a tower with alternating half circle shaped levels which you climb up through or a series of ladders. This area also has a small flying fox with disk seat, birds nest swing, swing with harness seat, standard swings and a row of pipes to hit changers against. The kids can practice their percussion skills in preparation for membership of the Clyde Symphonic Orchestra. There are a number of unshaded seats and some small shelters with a seat. Overall the playground is attractively landscaped.
There is an outdoor gym beside the playground.
Background on the playground - Variety-the Children's Charity is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering children who are sick, disadvantaged or live with disability. Established in Australia over 40 years ago, Variety has helped enrich the lives of hundreds of thousands of children in need through its grants, programs, scholarships and experiences. With a vision for all children to attain their full potential, regardless of ability or background, Variety believes that all kids deserve a fair go, including the ability to play. Variety achieves 'inclusion through play' through advocacy and building inclusive playspaces throughout communities nationally, so that kids can experience the joy and benefits of playing together. This inclusive playspace is the result of a partnership between Stockland and Variety-the Children's Charity. It is part of the Livvi's Place national network of inclusive playspaces, designed to ensure we can all play together.
