Located in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne, sitting on the fringe of the gorgeous Yarra Valley in Panton Hill, Unicorn Valley Equestrian Centre is located within 30 minutes of the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
We pride ourselves on our holistic approach to horse riding and handling, offering private and group lessons for both children and adults from beginners to advanced riders looking to further their knowledge and skills.
Our style of teaching encompasses all aspects of horsemanship; from pleasure to competition riding, extensive horse care and workshops in various horse training methods such as liberty and clicker training.
We are also offering a new specialty program in the field of horse experience which is our 'Outside In' program which taps into the topic of Equine Assisted Learning (EAL).

Riding Lessons
At Unicorn Valley we teach adults and children from the age of about eight and up, in both private and group lessons. Our location in Panton Hill, just 30 mins from the northern suburbs of Melbourne, makes yours' or your child's dream of learning to ride conveniently accessible while giving the opportunity to spend time in this gorgeous area of Victoria.
In our lessons we not only teach people to ride but also have a strong focus on learning the basic skills required to care for a horse. Building these skills instils you with the knowledge to keep yourself safe when around horses but also improves riding by providing a sound understanding of horse physiology and behaviour.
We cover topics such as horse breeds, worming, feeding, tacking up, floating a horse and general horse wellbeing. We also have regular demonstrations from our farriers, body workers, horse trainers and saddle fitters to help build an understanding of the needs of a horse.
Adult Lessons
At Unicorn Valley we teach adults at all levels of experience and offer both private and group lessons. We not only teach people to ride but to also have a strong focus on learning the basic skills required to care for a horse.
Adult lessons run 7 days a week and can be scheduled inside or outside of work/school hours, providing you with the flexibility you need to learn to ride.
Children's Lessons
Children's lessons are essential when starting out. We provide lunge lessons to ensure balance, a good seat and independent hands. This also enables young riders to safely gain riding knowledge as well as the confidence to assimilate into group lessons. They are also helpful to aid in preparation for competitions, allowing time to work on more specific aspects of your child's riding.
Programs
Unicorn Valley Equestrian Centre provides an integrated course schedule of learning through exploration, scrutiny, and self-reflection. Our classes combine hands-on experience with knowledge-based teaching.
School Holiday Program
At Unicorn Valley, our school holiday program offers a range of fun activities from beginners right through to advanced riders.
Set amongst the beautiful surrounds of Panton Hill, our young riders will gain exposure to learning basic horsemanship theory, riding skills and pending availability - a demonstration by a farrier, saddle fitter, equine dentist or horse handler.
Riders work in groups with different instructors based on riding experience and interest in various activities such as dressage, games, trail rides and/or jumping.
Junior Riding Days
Unicorn Valley holds junior riding days to give them the full 'horse' experience without having to own their own pony. Each rider is allocated their own horse for the day. We try to do a bit of everything including riding lessons, X-country, a trail ride, horse theory and games.
Competitions and Games
We hold our own in-house competitions in which riders compete at all levels, from complete beginners to experienced riders. It offers our riders the opportunity to show how much their riding has improved as well as boosting their confidence while having some fun.
Studies have shown that children who compete at an early age have a better ability to deal with stressful situations in everyday life so we encourage our riders to compete for themselves to get the most out of their riding and out of life.
In the weeks leading up to the competitions we offer our riders the opportunity to practice, either privately or in a group. We encourage them to practice their dressage test, even if it means turning their lounge room at home into a manege!
Kids Parties
Why not share your passion for horses with your friends and celebrate with a pony party at Unicorn Valley! The parties run over 2.5 hours and no previous riding experience is needed, though we do have a minimum age requirement of 6 years.

We care for your horse or pony around the clock in lovely large shady paddocks settled on the border of the beautiful Yarra Valley.
With a proven network of farriers, barefoot farriers, saddle fitters, body work professionals and a host of other professionals available for your convenience, Unicorn Valley Equestrian Centre is the place your horse would love to call home!
