Review:
Beautiful gardens, lawns and lakes which is well worth the reasonably priced admission.
Just down from the entrance is a flat area called the tennis court (probably because there was a tennis court here at some stage in the past) which has lots of unshaded plastic tables and chairs.
As you walk further away from the entrance you reach some unfenced deep lakes which means children need to be closely supervised.
At far end is Treasure Island which is a great place for younger kids which has a pirate themed play area. There is a ladder which leads to a massive fallen tree which is covered in chicken wire. You can walk along the tree with a reasonable chance of not falling off.
At the western end is a lovely lush lawn with shady trees and play areas for young kids with plenty of toys and things to ride. This is a beautiful area for a picnic.
Squak the parrot lives in a cage near the private area. He is 48 years old and enjoys talking to visitors, dancing, singing and doing head spins. He particularly likes Pop Goes the Weazel.
There are two main gardens in Mount Macedon, with Forest Glade Garden being located a short distance away. Both are well worth a visit. Tieve Tara Gardens is better suited to young kids but is smaller in area and has less sculptures and interesting areas to explore.
