The Top Family Activities and Playgrounds in the Towong Shire Region
The Towong Shire region is five hours drive north-east of Melbourne and includes the main town of Corryong and the smaller towns of Bellbridge, Granya and Tallangatta.
The region is associated with the Man from Snowy River and it's a mandatory stop at the Man from Snowy River Museum in Corryong which tells the story of Jack Riley, who was without doubt, the real man from Snowy River who inspired Banjo Paterson's famous poetry. The The Man from Snowy River Statue is nearby.
There are some nature areas with opportunities for walks at Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park, Mount Lawson State Park, Cudgewa Bluff Falls and Mount Granya State Park.

The best playgrounds in this region are:
Attree Park Playground, Corryong
This playground yells out FUN. It is bright and exciting and begs for kids to enjoy themselves. There is a sign at the playground which reads "May the infectious sound of children's laughter fill the P.W. Attree Centre". Take it from me, that it does.
The main play structure has a triple slide for racing, bigger and higher double slides for even more racing, climbing wall, scrambling wall, tree shaped climbing ladder, tic-tac-toe, abacus, fun steering wheels, fishing rod with spinning reel, beautiful shop front with scales, calculator and telephone, arched walkway, high bridge with pipe steps and lots of things to swirl around to make patterns.
In the corner is a big sandpit (maybe more gravel than sand actually) with a super cute speedboat with outboard motor and some sand play equipment such as scales. At the back is a colourful panel with pipes to hit a clanger against and things to twirl and make noises. There are also some boards to learn words.
There is a row of five swings including a birds nest swing and one with a harness. Standalone monkey bars, two cute springer show (a dog and a horse) and a climbing frame with lots of climbing possibilities.
Next to the playground is a huge shelter with four tables and a BBQ. there is some grassy area, unshaded seats, toilets and water tap. Located next to the Tourist Information Centre and statue of the Man from Snowy River.
Galleon Park Playground, Corryong
Set beside Cemetery Creek is a massive ship, the Apex Resolution, anchored at the playground which is primed for pirate play.
Next to the ship is an area with three unshaded tables, small grassy area and toilets.
Further across there is an area with a circular fence which has one gap and contains a basic structure with curved slide, little wave slide, chain ladder, curved ladder, walkway and climbing mat wall. There are also two swings for older kids and a super cute metal and wood grasshopper springer.
The best skate parks in this region are:
Bellbridge Skatepark (The park has been upgraded and extended in size and is now encircled by a fun concrete track with bumps and curves. In the middle are two quarters and a funbox)
Corryong Skatepark (A concrete park which has a quarter at one end and a quarter, bank and stairs at the other end. In the middle is a flat rail and pyramid with rail. There are two seats with possible shade and a toilet outside the swimming pool next door)
There is also a skate park at Tallangatta Skatepark.
