Grow well, eat well, be well - be part of a diverse cultural community that grow, learn and share cultural crops.
The garden brings together the sharing of different cultures through growing fresh produce using raised garden beds. You will also learn about how to care for the environment and various health educational sessions.
The HIVE is more than just a community garden:
- It provides a therapeutic activity that has been shown to be an extremely effective method for working with who have experienced trauma. The magic of 'gardening' provides fresh air, outdoors, nurturing being a part of something that creates sharing, meditative, educating, inclusion, friendship and socialization.
- There are cooking and educational sessions - using cultivated crops for preparing healthy cultural meals and the sharing of these meals with the wider community will help build stronger communities. Education sessions will be held throughout the year that will be related to specific themes lead by a dietitian.
- Life! Program is offered to participants to improve lifestyle choices so as to reduce the progression of chronic diseases eg. diabetes, hypertension and heart diseases
- Exercise for body and mind, predominantly Tai Chi in the park
