The Grove Playground, Davis Road, Tarneit
The highlight of this playground is obvious at first sight - a huge tunnel slide writhing in the air like a giant snake. There are steps in the tower or a very high rope tunnel to get to the slide. This slide has replaced the two twisty tunnel slides that were there previously.
In the upper section near the giant slides is a small wave slide, spinning donut on an angle to the horizontal (donuts have never been as nauseous as this), two stand on spinners, two in-ground trampolines and sculptures showing the lifecycle of a frog. If you press the square button near the frogs, you will hear the sound of frogs, actually, it sounds like frogs in a thunderstorm or being flushed down the toilet depending on which button you press.
In the lower section of the playground there is a flying fox with harness seat, spinning cup with hand wheel, smallish pyramid rope climbing frame and a line of stepping stones. This area also has a shelter with some seats.
There is a huge birds nest swing in the middle of the play area. Whoever designed this layout deserves to be hit with massive bird droppings from a great height. This is a major traffic area for kids and it is dangerous to have a heavy basket laden with kids swinging back and forth in a big arc and becoming a missile. So be careful.
There is also some grassy area and water tap. On the side of the grass is an area with water sprays activated by a button.
The Little Growling Cafe next door has views across the playground. Note: The cafe is open 7:30am to 4pm on all days except Monday. The toilets are open when the cafe is open.
The Stockland Sales Office for The Grove estate, which is next to the cafe, is open 10am to 5pm every day. The slides are open when the Sales Office is open.
There is an open gate on the west side of the playground where you can get access to the playground when the cafe is closed.
