At The Dance Centre, we offer a variety of classes to meet your individual needs. Whether you are a beginner, advanced or an anything in between student, our physical classes will be adapted and modified to suit your current ability level while also helping you achieve your goals.
Preschool Classes
We love sharing the joy of Dance with our Pre School and Kinder Students. Students are taught basic dance technique, flexibility and musicality focussing on developing fine and gross motor skills.
Dance with me - Mummy, Daddy (or Carer)
An opportunity for our younger dancers, aged between 1.5 - 2 years of age to dance with their Mummy, Daddy or Carer. With the use of visual imagery, props, songs, storytelling and musical instruments, students create memories, sharing the joy dance can bring. Students are introduced to basic dance foundations, movement and music developing their fine and gross motor skills.
Kinder Dance - Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hiphop and Acrobatics
The Kinder Dance classes teach our students aged 3 - 5 years old how to dance independently. They are shown how to follow directions, how to be spatially aware, how to take turns when speaking and dancing and how to dance and move in time with the music. Students learn the technical skills of their enrolled style in a friendly, positive and nurturing environment.Students further develop and build on their dance skills in their chosen genre.
Class programs are structured and follow a progressive curriculum. Your child will foster their love of dance as well as further develop their social skills, listening skills, body awareness, spatial awareness, coordination and gross motor skills.
Gym / Fitness Classes
Fun, Engaging Fitness sessions for students aged 2-5 years old. All Programs and Exercises are based on growth and development stages. Classes incorporate Games and Play Based activities exploring Fundamental skills (running, jumping, balancing) and Gross Motor Skills to create Strong Bodies and Healthy Minds. All classes taught by a Fully Qualified Personal Trainer and Registered Exercise Professional.
Children Classes
Attending lessons incorporates more than simply learning dance technique. Students will develop important life skills; connect with others, work on increasing their confidence and have the opportunity to express themselves through movement and music.
Jazz
A modern style of dance, performed to current music. High intensity and fast paced. Jazz dance develops stamina, flexibility, strength and co ordination.
Classical Ballet
The foundation for all dance styles, classical ballet teaches you the fundamentals of correct technique, posture and alignment.
Pointe
By invitation only. Pointe is a component of a Ballet class where a dancer supports all of their body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes.
Contemporary
A combination of Ballet and modern dance styles. Contemporary dance encourages self expression, natural movement and personal interpretation.
Dance Acrobatics
Dance Acro (similar to gymnastics) technical skills are taught including balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength.
Hiphop
Popular and energetic style of dance. Students learn routines to current and favourite songs.
Tap
Using the sounds of metal tap plates affixed to the heel and toe of your tap shoes. Students learn to strike the floor as a form of percussion, developing musicality and co ordination.
Fitness, Flexibility and Strength and Conditioning Classes
Taught by a Fully qualified Fitness Instructor. Students work on increasing their endurance, stamina, strength and flexibility using various training programs and fitness equipment.
Yoga
A class combination of traditional yoga poses to build strength, stretches to increase flexibility, and gentle breathing techniques to calm the mind.
Musical Theatre
A class combining singing, dancing and acting. Students learn songs and monologues from Musicals.
Performance Team, VET in the VCE, Certificates I-IV in Dance Performance Studies, Dance Exams & Leadership Program
Programs to further extend and support our students who are interested in a Dance, Performing Arts or Teaching career.
Adult Classes
At The Dance Centre, we offer a variety of classes to meet your individual needs. Whether you are a beginner, advanced or an anything in between student, our physical classes will be adapted and modified to suit your current ability level while also helping you achieve your goals.
As adults who lead busy lives, it is important we take some well deserved time out for ourselves. Attending your weekly class with us will energise you and have you leaving your class with a positive mindset.
Dance Fit
A Non Stop FUN Dance Party! Dance to all of your favourite songs. This class will bring a smile to your face, sweat to your cheeks and leave you feeling energised. Suitable for everyone and all levels of Fitness.
Pilates & Barre
A class incorporating traditional Pilates exercises that focus on toning the full body. Using many props including the Ballet Barre, the class flows co ordinating Barre (Ballet) and Pilates movements to sculpt and tone the whole body.
Yoga
A traditional yoga class incorporating yoga postures that focus on strength, flexibility and balance. The postures flow co ordinating the breath and movement, helping to relieve stress and tension in the body. The class is set to grounding music and finishes with a beautiful guided meditation.
Small Group and Personal Training Fitness
Whether you are wanting to start a new fitness program or have exercised before, our Small group fitness classes cater to all ability levels. We have created this unique fitness class that will suit your health and fitness goals, no matter how big or small they are.
In your class, you can expect constant support, motivation and advice on all topics related to fitness, nutrition and lifestyle. We genuinely want to help you reach your goal whether that be to lose weight, tone up, get stronger, be able to play with your kids or provide an escape to do something for yourself.
