Review:
This location is best suited to families with young kids and there are so many activities to do that you could easily spend many hours here. The combination of petting baby animals, animal shows, tractor ride around the site to see all the animals, feeding the animals and other attractions such as the playground, jumping pillow and water splash park on warmer days, at a decent family price, is a real winner.
Tractor rides and shows, such as the reptile show with a live python and the sheep dog show, are included in the standard admission cost.
Other activities included in the standard admission are the:
- Jumping pillow (a trampoline-like jumping pillow which is under shade sails and puts Big-4 to shame).
- A huge Tyre Maze.
- Petting Barn (can feed and handle guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, chickens, goats (seasonal during winter / spring) and lambs (seasonal during winter / spring) with the assistance of the staff.
- Farmyard walk-through area where you can get close to cute lambs, goats, turkeys and chickens. To be really popular in this area buy some animal feed and feed the hungry animals.
- Wildlife Park which you walk through and meet and feed animals such as Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Tamar Wallabies, Pademelons and Emus.
- Large adventure playground which is under cover which makes it ideal for any type of weather. It has many creative elements including a sandy base, multiple slides, cubby house, rock climbing wall, speed boat and even has the cabin of a truck as a play item.
- Splash Park is open when the forecast temperature is over 25 degrees. This is a great way to cool down on hot days but make sure you bring bathers and a towel. There is a zone for smaller kids away from the bustle of older kids.
- Larger animal paddocks (alpacas, cattle, donkeys, camel, ostriches)
- Aviaries which have a range of birds including peacocks, cockatoos, budgerigars, cockatiels, galahs, rainbow lorikeets, parrots, pheasants and guinea fowl
- Maze (provided you can stand the Dad jokes as you progress through the maze)
- A range of face-in-the-hole boards with the most 'interesting' being one where your face comes out of a rhino's backside.
- A boat is being transformed into a pirate ship playground
Activity Times - The times when activities are run depends on whether it is a weekday during term time or a weekend / holiday.
During the weekend and holidays there are typically four shows during the day between 11:30 am and 2:30pm while during term time weekdays there is only one show at 11:30 am.
Similarly, during the weekend and holidays there are pony rides during the periods 10:30 am - 12:30pm and 1:00pm - 3:00 pm but on request during term time weekdays. Tractor rides are also on request during term time weekdays but operating all day during the weekend and holidays.
Optional Activities - There are some activities which are not included in the standard admission cost. This includes pony rides ($5) and mini golf ($5). Either enclosed shoes or gumboots must be worn on the pony rides. There is also a horse ride for older kids.
The mini golf course has 18 holes in a small area and has some obstacles on the fairways but is not too difficult. The number of temper tantrums should be minimal and if some golf clubs do get bent then you can always play horse-shoes.
Food - There is a nice cafe on site or you can bring your own food and have a picnic. The cafe has dine-in options such as fish, calamari, burgers, salads, chips, soup, pancakes ($10 - 20), a take away menu such as hot dog, pie, sausage roll, BLT and chips and a kids menu (around $10 for a meal). There is also a range of hot and cold drink including yummy milkshakes plus an Ice Cream bar serving Norgen Vaaz ice-cream.
There are plenty of tables where you can eat your own food.
Overall the farm is clean and very well maintained.
Update: The jumping pillow and pony rides are no longer offered.
