The Best Street and Public Art in Windsor, Prahran and South Yarra
The best street art is centred around Chapel Street, mostly in Windsor and Prahran and a few locations in South Yarra.
On the walls of the large National Storage building at 118 Union Street, Windsor there is a mural on the southern wall (which has been heavily tagged) with a skyline of Melbourne with iconic images such as the Skipping Girl sign, Flinders Street station, Nylex sign and off course the Windsor train station. On the western wall is a mural of Australian animals.
The fences of the house at the intersection of Union Street and Thomas Street South have large murals with an Americana theme.

Mural at the corner of Mcilwrick Street and Windsor Place, Windsor which is a tribute to artist Pia Brightman (1980 - 2013) who committed suicide in March 2013. Brightman's partner, Lenny Gould, who is a street artist and hip-hop performer, painted the mural together with another artist over a weekend immediately after Brightman died.
There is a mural on the eastern side of the MARS gallery at 7 James Street based on the Colossus (after Goya) by Robert Hague (2017).
"Goya's Giant (1818) turns his head as if disturbed from thought. He sits naked within a distant landscape since lost to catastrophic environmental change (The White Terraces, Blomfield 1884). The things that shape us, our childhood and the world in which we are born, they are fragile things that so often we fail to value until they are lost. This is a deeply personal work (I am Goya's giant) about the world that I left behind."
There is a smaller version and an information board near the entrance. The other side of the gallery has a wall with a light installation.
Lincoln Place, which runs between James Street and Duke Street has a mural by Putos and a laneway of hanging painted shoes.

Artists Lane in Windsor has artwork along both sides of the lane, between Union Street and Green Street, plus an area which opens out behind some buildings. This area is full of good street art and is always worth a visit. Last time we visited there were a number of works by Heesco and the large blue mural is by Bizjak. Across the top of the lane is an area with a number of poems by Amanda Anastas, Benjamin Solah and Andy Jackson plus some stress relief advice by Jacky T.

A fantastic five story tall robot monster by UK artist Phlegm above Pran Central at 321 Chapel Street, Prahran. The monster dangles a lantern over a village beneath its scalp. The artist has beautifully used a flashing yellow carpark light on the wall to create a beating heart. This is one of the best examples of street art in Melbourne.
