Epic Playgrounds Built During Lockdown
We may have been kept to our homes or within a short distance of home for most of the lockdown period. However, the construction industry has kept working except for an occasional spat with Dan and this has resulted in some epic playgrounds being constructed while we were distracted by the perils of remote learning. We deserved some great new places to play and here they are:
Thomas Street South Reserve Playground (Hampton)
This playground replaced an old favourite and came out smelling of roses with a tall towers, castle, music zone with DJ table, water splash pad, dual flying foxes, fun sandpit, big revolving hamster wheel for humans, rock climbing wall, parkour area, huge grassy expanse and Senior's exercise area.
Dragon Park Playground (Officer)
A spectacular playground which has a huge dragon's head dominating the playground. If you're brave enough you can climb into the beast's mouth and descend down inside its neck on a slide. There are a series of other metal based play areas and engaging sculptures of animals and birds.
J.J Holland Park Playground (Kensington)
Two high colourful towers are by a high rope tunnel bridge and the high curved tunnel slide and very twisty tunnel slide can be easily reached by steps. There is also a large sandpit, flying foxes, in-ground trampolines, big spinning rope cone, big atom shaped rope climbing frame, lots of swings and a huge park.
Lincoln Square South Playground (Carlton)
The playground which encourages imaginative nature play for a wide range of ages occupies a wonderful position under huge shady 150 year old Moreton Bay Figs.
