Swifts Creek - Tambo Valley Golf Course
The Tambo Valley Golf Club is a volunteer run, non-profit Club located between Omeo and Swifts Creek just off the Great Alpine Road. The course is nestled under Mt Bindi between Splitters Range and Nunniong Plateau and features pine trees surrounded by native bushland covered hills which rise steeply from the clear mountain waters of Junction Creek.
The course consists of nine holes made up of 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's and 3 par 5's, with all holes having alternate tees. The par 72 layout has a Rating of 71 for both Ladies and Men. Although not long (Men - 5,617m, Ladies - 4,819 m), the course is very challenging with narrow fairways, small greens and plenty of 'no go' zones. Although originally being a nine hole course, the second nine now has different tee-offs to the first (with hole ratings adjusted accordingly).
The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including kangaroos, fallow deer, emus, wombats, water dragons, and a multitude of bird life.
Diirections: Tambo Valley Golf Club is situated 15kms north of the Swifts Creek Township or around 29 km south of Omeo (take the Bindi turnoff 8 km from Swifts Creek or about 22 km from Omeo. It's very well marked.
