Strath Creek Falls
This waterfall, located in Mount Disappointment State Forest, has been popular with visitors for over 150 years. The walk leads to the amazing view of the falls cascading over 50 metres over the rock face and into the gully below. The return walk is about 1km and takes 45 minutes. The falls are best viewed after heavy rain.
The Falls is located a 20 minute drive from Strath Creek. The Falls is located 8km along the Murchison Spur Road from the intersection with Strath Creek Road (at the Murchison Gap and Murchison Lookout). The last 1 km drive down to the Falls carpark is steep and is not suitable for caravans, buses, campervans and the like.
Directions (from Victorian Waterfalls)
Travel on the the Hume Freeway to Broadford. Turn right onto the Broadford/Flowerdale Road. Proceed along this road until Murchison Spur Road is reached on the right and then take this road. The road is gravel and can be difficult for a 2WD. After about 9Km turn left into Falls Road. There is a carpark and picnic tables here but the final descent to the carpark needs to be taken carefully.

From Melbourne we took the Hume Fwy (M31) north and got off at Strath Creek Rd in the town of Broadford (about 80km north of the city CBD). Then, we headed east on Strath Creek Rd for about 10km before we took a spur road (Murchison Spur Tr) on the right for about 4km south towards Thomsons Rd. Going left on Thomsons Rd, we followed this road for about 3.5km to another signposted spur road on the left. The rough unpaved spur road eventually led to the Strath Creek Falls. However, that unpaved spur road actually became a one-way loop road near the falls. We actually stopped the car at the top of what looked to be a very rough and steep downhill descent to the actual car park for the falls. We didn't have confidence in going down this road so we actually drove the wrong way to get out of this loop road when we were done visiting the falls.
