St Andrews Tennis Club (Brighton)
The St Andrew's Tennis Club was founded in 1911 and the three courts are located in St Andrew's Street, flanked by St Andrew's Church buildings and neighbouring Brighton Grammar School. St Andrew's Tennis Club owes much to the St Andrew's Anglican Church and Vestry for its formation, existence and continued support.
There are 3 courts with a policlay surface, a synthetic matting topped with ceramic sand. Policlay plays like en tout cas, however it is low maintenance and requires no watering. All three courts have lights.
Coaching
Coaching programmes under Gerard Douglas, from Douglas Tennis, cater to most age groups. Gerard Douglas is one of Victoria's top professional tennis coaches. His role at St Andrew's Tennis Club, as both Club Coach and Centre Manager, sees him pro-active and supportive in every aspect of club life.
We remain extremely fortunate to have someone of the calibre, expertise and commitment of Gerard who has devoted well in excess of twenty years of his professional tennis life towards the success of the Club. Gerard's important coaching work with the junior tennis players lays an essential foundation stone for the continuing growth and future prosperity of the Club. We are indeed privileged to have Gerard's continuing involvement in the Club throughout this year and beyond.
