Somers Yacht Club

Somers Yacht Club is a fun club of sailing fanatics and social activities for all the family.

The Somers Yacht Club racing fleet gathers on Saturday afternoons between October and April and comprises of mixed classes which include both catamarans and mono hulls. This is supported by our excellent Sea Rescue facilities that support our competitive yet friendly racing calendar.

Classes sailed include Catamarans of Tornado, Mosquito, A Class, Wild Cat, Hobie 14, 16, Hobie Turbo, Dragoon, Paper Tiger, Tiapan, and Mono Hulls of Tasar, Contender, 470, 420, Laser, Sabre, Impulse, Finn, Solo, Pacer, 125, Optimist, Hawk and Open skiff. All Off the Beach boats are most welcome.

Somers Sailing School - All participants must be Somers Yacht Club members to enrol in these courses (except Out There courses). The club helps support the running of all courses so we can keep our prices down and offer an excellent service to members. Minimum age is 9 years. Our learn to sail courses are run over the summer holidays for the children and an adult course during February. Coaching course run throughout the season.

Our staff are highly trained sailing instructors, and make the whole experience of being on the water a safe, fun and an exciting time.

Club Boat Hire - Somers Yacht Club offers club boats for weekly hire on race days. These include: Pacers, Open Bic, and Hobie 16. Note: People borrowing the Pacers and Hobie 16 must know how to sail.
