Seymour Railway Heritage Centre
Since inception in 1983, Seymour Railway Heritage Centre has been dedicated to the preservation of our fleet of heritage rollingstock. Our carriages cover over a century of history including royal and vice regal cars, well known 'E' types and some that once featured on the iconic 'Spirit of Progress'.
When choosing to travel with us you have the the opportunity to settle back and truly relax - reliving the golden age of travel when everything was a little slower - and way more fun! You'll be looked after by our dedicated and experienced volunteers and staff.
We are located in the heart of Seymour, about 100 km North East of Melbourne. Our tours often depart from Seymour and Melbourne making joining us on a tour simple and easy.
If you'd really like to be part of the action - why not join us a volunteer? We have a huge list of tasks that you can assist with from the simple to the with.
Head to the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre to board an impeccably preserved diesel locomotive for special heritage tours. Tours go to various Victorian destinations throughout the year. There is usually a kiosk and licensed bar on board, and you can choose from a steel, air-conditioned carriage or open up the windows of an old wooden carriage.
The extensive fleet of restored locomotives are also available for hire or long-term lease by private operators. Alternatively, you can book a guided tour.
The unique Seymour Railway Station is one of the few intact stations built during the light lines era. It was constructed for the Victorian Railways on the Melbourne - Wodonga line in 1874 and extended in 1883. The cafe at the station was once one of the largest country refreshment rooms in Victoria.
