Seymour - Great Driving Routes
Seymour is surrounded by beautiful countryside; perfect for that much loved great country drive.
Here are some favourites:
Great Drive One
Manse Hill Road to Northwood and Mitchellstown
Travel west out of Seymour along C384 Emily Street, and turn north up Manse Hill Road. Follow Manse Hill Road north, taking in views of the river on your right-hand side as you go. The road becomes Northwood Road, and after 3 minutes (ca. 4.4km) you'll come across Bluetongue Berries, a completely off grid BnB and berry farm where you can pick your own delicious berries during the summer.
Another three minutes further north look out for the former Northwood State School Reserve, on the left, with its historic Avenue of Honour. Another minute north, this time on the right, peer into the beautifully kept grounds of Darley Stables Northwood Park. Owned by the Sheik of Dubai, it is part of the global Darley Stud - which in 2019 celebrated its first ever win of the famed Melbourne Cup. From this point you are just 10 minutes from Mitchellstown and the impressive Mitchelton Wines and Talibilk Winery Cellar Door.
Great Drive Two
Highlands and Whiteheads Creek Hinterland Loop
This short scenic drive takes you out east of Seymour into the Kobyboyn and Highlands localities, Seymour's beautiful hilltop hinterland. Head out southeast along Anzac Avenue (B340) before turning left up into Kobyboyn Road towards Seymour Racecourse. Kobyboyn Road passes through Seymour's equestrian precinct - drive carefully and keep a look out for horses making their way from their stables to the track.
After passing the racecourse, follow Kobyboyn Road. The route is lined with trees, branches reaching out over the road and forming a near continuous archway for your journey. After 12Km, Kobyboyn Road ends and you'll come to a T-intersection with Highlands Road. Turn left and follow the road around to the north. This will lead you through the locality of Highlands.
A quintessential Australian Country drive - to be enjoyed for its views, its distant horizons across farmland, dotted with grazing sheep and cows. You're also likely to come across a mob or two of kangaroos.
As you head into Seymour, turn left at the roundabout and back to Anzac Avenue; where you can find your way to a winery, cafe or pub for a well-earned refreshment.
Our drives offer beautiful scenery that is wonderful to enjoy. However, please drive carefully and courteously and keep Your eyes on the road at all times.
