Sea Lake Art Silos and Street Art
The artwork on the silos by Drapl & The Zookeeper depicts a young girl swinging from a Mallee Eucalyptus looking over Lake Tyrell and reflecting on her Indigenous heritage.
There's a hidden story in the artwork. Located on the bottom right is a tree with 'Dot' engraved on it. Dot was a local lady who cared for injured wedge tailed eagles and was the inspiration for the wedge tailed eagle nest. She passed away more than 100 years ago and the town wanted to pay tribute to her. Her name can be seen 'carved' into the tree beneath the nest which is a lovely tribute to an incredible woman.
A stroll down the main street of Sea Lake will unearth a number of stunning murals. Created by the very same street artists who painted the Sea Lake Silo art, Drapl (Travis Vinson) and The Zookeeper (Joel Fergie), the beautiful work depicts local flora and scenes of Mallee life - conveniently located next to a playground and public restrooms.
