Scout Beach (Mornington)

Scout Beach (Mornington)

A coastal area with a choice of three beaches (Shire Hall Beach, Scout Beach and Mothers Beach) in one with a foreshore reserve and picnic facilities.

There is a continuous, 600 m long beach that begins as Mothers Beach in the western protected corner, then changes to Scout Beach in the centre and ends in the east as Shire Hall Beach. At Scout Beach there is a scout hall and a few boat sheds below the bluffs.

Swimming - Safest at Mothers and Scout Beaches, so long as you are clear of the boat traffic.

The beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)

Review:

Where the beach connects to Shire Hall Beach to the eest, the cliff juts out towards the beach and has a rock wall at the bottom. Stone steps lead to views above the beach. At the top of the cliff there is a shelter with seats, unshaded seats with views along the beach, water tap and BBQ.

There is a carpark opposite #793 Esplanade and a number of paths which lead down to the beach. The nice sandy beach is wide but has a fair number of rocks under the water at the eastern end. There are picnic tables and toilets.

There is a kiosk which sells drinks and ice-creams and the clubhouse for the 2nd Mornington Sea Scouts which the beach is named after.
