Sandringham Royals Baseball Club (Sandringham)
Sandringham Baseball Club, which was established in 1928, participates in the Baseball Victoria competition during each summer. We have a range of baseball teams from Junior/Senior levels, Masters and Women's teams.
The club is based at Tulip Street Reserve in Sandringham.
Junior Program
The aim of our Junior Program at Sandringham is to provide a pathway for development of baseball skills and development of individuals in all areas of life skills. We cater for the very youngest players from 5 years of age through to 18 year olds and onto Senior baseball.
The Southern Mariners charter in conjunction with Sandringham Royals gives players the opportunity through all age groups from Little League Major onwards the opportunity to compete at the highest level.
The Junior program comprises the following pathway:
T BALL
Players from 5 years of age up to 8 years of age, however players at top of age level may advance to Minor League if deemed competent enough to progress. T-Ball will be played Saturday mornings.
Ball in Play
Previously known as Rookie Ball, this level is for players from 8 years of age to 11 years of age, ideally suits players that have not had any baseball experience, this level offers coach pitch, modified rules and is played at grounds in the Southern Mariner charter on a rotation basis. Players can progress to next level if deemed suitable.
Minor
Traditional baseball for this age group... players must have some understanding and competency of the game, played as home and away on Friday nights. Players can be aged 8-12 years of age.
Little League Minor
Age group 8-12, played Sunday morning home and away, basic level of competency same as Friday nights, players can play either Friday or Sunday or both. Pitching restrictions in terms of pitch counts will be enforced.
Little League Major
Age group 9-12 played Sunday morning home and away, for players who display best level of competency in this age group. Players can play Friday night (Minors ) as well as Sunday Little League Majors.
Intermediate League
This of competition is played Friday night on home and away basis, age group 11-13 year olds. Pitching distance is 50 ft and base paths are 70 ft. This league covers the gap between Little League and Junior League for players who may not be physically ready for Junior League Baseball.
Players by age, can play Intermediate (Friday) and Little League (Sunday) or Intermediate(Fri) and Junior League (Sunday)if they choose however must play 80% of Intermediate games to qualify for All Star selection.
Junior League Minor
Players 13 to 15 years of age, played Sunday morning home and away, suit developing players in this age group, with opportunity for advancement to Major league team if performance warrants. Players can play Intermediate (Friday) and Junior League if age qualified.
Junior League Major
Same age group as Minor, played home and away on Sunday mornings, most competent players of this age group will play Junior League Major. Players can play Intermediate (Fri) as well as JL Major however can only ever be selected for one All Star team.
Under 16
Traditional under 16 baseball on a State and Metro level played as a home and away competition.
Under 18
Traditional under 18 baseball on a State and Metro level played as a home and away competition.
Senior Program
The Sandringham Royals Baseball Club is a long-established and well-respected baseball club competing in the Division 1 competition of the Summer League competition co-ordinated by Baseball Victoria.
Typically our club will field 4 senior men's teams, Seniors, Reserves, Thirds, and Fourths.
There is also a women's team and 2 Masters team available, so our club offers an opportunity for any aspiring, experienced or very experienced player to enjoy the game.
The "Royals" traditionally train on Tuesday nights (Senior and Reserves) with all club training held on Thursday nights with a BBQ for all players in attendance after training.
Game days are Sundays, with the occasional Saturday fixture.
Our Club welcomes all players and families of any ability to come and enjoy the game, at Sandringham Baseball Club, create new and long-lasting friendships and become involved in a friendly Bayside sporting club.
