Royal Park has three off-leash areas - the main off leash area is south of MacArthur Road and there are two smaller areas in the northern part of the park at Poplar Oval and McPherson Field.
Car parking seems to be a big problem here and we had to resort to parking at Orygen Health (35 Poplar Road, Parkville). There was free parking for the first 30 minutes and $3 for the next 30 minutes. From the car park head south to the Upfield Bike Park where there is access to McPherson Field which is a wide open grassy area with vegetation along the edges. The field is basically a triangle with each side around 100m long. There is no water tap or bin.
