Royal Beach (Mornington)
A small accessible beach dominated by the backing bluffs and fronting rocks and reefs.
Royal Beach is a small pocket beach, just 150 m long, lying between two 10 to 20 m high, red sandstone bluffs, and backed by grassy bluffs and the Esplanade. The narrow beach looks attractive at high tide, but at low tide exposes a continuous rock and reef flat, with deep water only out beyond the rocks.
Swimming - Only at high tide, even then watch the rocks.
Royal Beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)
Review:
At the top of the cliff is a seat with views down to the beach below. Concrete steps lead down to a curved, fairly narrow beach with a lot of rocks on the beach and in the water along most of the beach.
There isn't a lot of parking availability at the top of the cliff.
Access for Dogs:
Dog off leash all the time during all the year.
