Rosebud Foreshore Playground, Jetty Road, Rosebud
A great new play space has moored at Rosebud Pier. Rising above the playground is a rocky mountain which has a range of fun and challenging routes between the top and bottom including a metal slide snaking down the side, soft mounds which provide a route to the top of the slide, steps, rope nets and rope lines. Beside this mound is a lower section with a smaller straight metal slide. Over the back is a single flying fox with disk seat.
At the front of the mound is a ring of equipment including a birds nest swing, four standard swings, a big carousel to sit on and spin to test out the laws of centrifugal force, tunnel, short narrow metal slide on a small mound and lots of rocks and stepping stones made from logs and concrete.
There is a big shelter with table and BBQ (with unshaded seats beside it) plus a small shelter with BBQ and table. There are water taps and toilets.
Within fairly close proximity to the playground there is a limited amount of two hour free parking plus extra parking is available within a few minutes walk along the medium strip of Point Nepean Road.
The playground is not huge in size and can get very busy but with a bit of sharing between the kids everyone should be able to find something to play on. The main issue with the playground is that it has three metal slides which form the core of the playground. In hot weather these slides can become too hot to use. This is a pity for a playground located next to a series of beaches. We went on a day when the temperature was sunny and in the low 20's. The slides were warm to the touch but definitely not too hot to use.
Depending on your plans for the day, the playground is ideally positioned to combine with other activities such as a BBQ, a swim at the safe nearby beach, a stroll along the pier or a leisurely walk along the foreshore tracks.
At the corner of Jetty Road and Point Nepean Road there is a pizza shop / cafe and along Point Nepean Road there are many other places to have a bite or drink.
