Rocks on Wheels Playground, Southbank Boulevard, Southbank
A brilliant climbing based playground constructed from over 300 tonnes of huge rocks. It's like a permanent junkyard which forms a playground. It looks like it was put together quickly and is on the verge of collapse but don't be deceived - this was a well thought out playground and even though most elements are located on tiny furniture dollies with wheels, this is solid as a rock.
As well as the rocks which form the base for lots of climbing opportunities, there are ladders, rope nets, slides and even a tree trunk is used. There are some swings at one end of the playground.
There are soft plastic tiles on the ground which have been installed to give the impression of hard concrete. As you would expect this is not a playground suited to toddlers. There are the little animals hidden amongst the rocks to find.
It is quite well fenced off from the road and there are number of seats. The water tap is made from discarded building materials.
