Ringwood & District Historical Society (Ringwood)
The Ringwood and District Historical Society exists to collect, preserve and promote material relating to the history of Ringwood, Victoria, and associated local districts.
The Society maintains extensive Archives encompassing newspapers, journals, books, personal histories, maps, plans, photographs and other material and artefacts.
The historical society is entirely run by volunteers, not-for-profit and is not under the control of the Maroondah City Council.
Its purposes are three-fold:
- First, the society collects local historical objects and information for the local community. We have humidified and air conditioned archives located at the Norwood Reserve building on Warrandyte Road, between Loughnan and Wonga Roads, which is open to the public.
- Second, the society promotes local history by holding regular meetings and organising historical displays.
- Third, our volunteers undertake research - not only for their own interests or family history - but for the general public, government organisations and corporations.
