Pootilla - Gong Gong Reservoir Park
Designed as a native park, Gong Gong offers a real 'back to nature' experience with bushwalking, scenic views and wonderful picnicking amid native bushland replete with wildlife. You can also cast a line in the reservoir, but make sure you obtain a fishing permit first.
Gong Gong's point of difference from most of Ballarat's other parks and gardens is its diversity of indigenous plant and animal species. This makes it a great place to explore (you never know what wildlife you might spot) and increases the conservation value of the park.
Gong Gong Reservoir Park is only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Ballarat and is set in natural bush surrounds. There are scenic views, picnic and BBQ facilities with toilet facilities available on weekends.
Located within Gong Gong Reservoir Park along the Yarowee River is the Catchment Habitat and Water Trail. This native area contains a valuable collection of native plants, interesting geological features and allows for stunning self-guided bushwalks along the river.
