Guide to the Best Playgrounds for a Kids Birthday Party in Melbourne

Guide to the Best Playgrounds for a Kids Birthday Party in Melbourne

Playgrounds and parks are very popular places for holding birthday parties and extended family gatherings. Fine weather definitely helps and we can't guarantee blue skies but we can help you find a place with suitable facilities such as shelters, picnic tables and toilets.

Access to facilities such as shelters for most playgrounds is on a first-come first-served basis. This makes the process a bit of a lottery and to increase your chances of nabbing a prime spot, especially on weekends, someone will need to come to the playground early in the day and stay there.

Some inner Melbourne councils such as Glen Eira and Boroondara require you to book picnic shelters, rotunda and grassed open spaces for events such as birthday parties. Barbeques are a free communal facility for all users of the park and are not included as part of a booking. The cost for a standard shelter and open space is around $150 for an individual and there is a minimum notice period. The disadvantage of this system is that it increases the cost of the party but the advantage is that you are guaranteed the use of a facility. See here for further information for Glen Eira and Boroondara councils.

Each of these places listed below have a super playground that will keep children entertained plus shelters, tables and toilets. Click on the links for more information on the playground including a full list of facilities and photos.
