Some tips for your visit:
- It's highly recommended to phone farms ahead of your visit to check fruit availability.
- Most of the farms are cash only.
- Take closed shoes (gumboots if it is wet), a hat, sunscreen and water.
- Once picked, don't leave your berries in the sun; find a shady spot so they'll stay fresh.
- Go early and avoid the heat and crowds. Some places also get picked out early.
- Wash your berries before use but only wash what you are about to eat - berries hold water and spoil faster once washed.
- Store your berries in the refrigerator, but they taste the best when eaten at room temperature.
- Place your berries in an opened container. This air flow is important to improve the longevity of your fruit
- To keep cherries fresh (and the trees healthy) you need to pick the cherries with their stalk or stem attached.
- Dogs are not permitted on farms.
- Most places do not have toilets.
