Phillip Island Chocolate Factory (Newhaven)
Phillip Island Chocolate Factory is the sweetest tourist attraction on the Island. Learn about cocoa harvesting, how chocolate is made and their vital ingredients. Other viewings include the Statue of David (made from chocolate), mural of Dame Edna consisting of 12,000 chocolate pieces, and the chocolate village where even the buildings are made of chocolate.
You also get to counterbalance a 1 tonne chocolate block and test your chocolate knowledge. Get your family and friends for these challenges. There is also a Chocolate Fall made from 400 litres of chocolate on display as well.

Review:
The type of place where young kids are almost guaranteed to come out with dirty faces. The activities are designed to provide a balance between education about the chocolate production process, fun and chocolate eating time. A friendly guide wanders about the display area offering titbits of extra information (and samples).
The static displays like the Statue of David and the Dame Edna mural are impressive for adults but the kids preferred the more interactive displays such as controlling the model trains which move through the chocolate village, getting the choc-bot to deliver a chocolate disk to you and making a squirl of chocolate. The 400 kg chocolate shower which occurs every three minutes is impressive - I haven't seen so much brown liquid since the boys last had a bath after playing in the backyard.
At the end of the tour it is possible, for $2, to make your own chocolate bar. Choose between dark, milk and light chocolate type and strawberry, cola, vegemite or wasabi (yeeow) ingredients.
The entrance fee is a little pricey and I think most people would spend less than 30 minutes in the exhibition area. There is also a cafe and plenty of opportunities to buy chocolate related goodies.
