Otway Fly Treetop Walk (Weeaproinah)

Otway Fly Tree Top Adventures is a 600 metre long 25 metre high elevated tree top walk and Zip line Tour through to the giants of the Otways Rain Forest.

The Otway Fly Treetop Walk is an enriching environmental experience. The visitor centre subtly introduces you to this amazing rainforest, whilst providing gourmet food, beverages, wine and the opportunity to relax and gently absorb the rich beauty that surrounds you.

Located in temperate rainforest 500 metres above sea level the Fly provides you with an all year round experience. In summer you can escape the heat of the coast. In winter you can experience the enigmatic mists enhancing the beauty of the forest.

Review:

A visit here means you need to be prepared for a lot of walking as well as flying. I heard a lot more huffing and puffing from the walking than cries of exhilaration from flying through the canopy. There is an initial 300m walk from the carpark to the Visitor Centre and around 1.2 km from the furthest point at the end of the canopy walk back to the Visitor Centre. There are lots of interesting information boards beside the track which does keep up your interest during the periods of walking. The Tree Top Walk itself is 600m long and flat and the exit off the Tree Top Walk has around 100 wide wooden steps.

There is a shuttle service pickup for persons with limited mobility only. Pickup operates on the hour, every hour between 10am and 4pm.

On the Treetop Walk you travel through the four strata of the rainforest, from the forest floor, to mid-canopy 30 metres above the ground, to the top of the tower, where you stand in the canopy of the rainforest, 47 metres above the forest floor. The walkway has been engineered to handle the speed of a cyclone 5 cyclone, so if it waves about a bit in the wind, don't get distressed.

You are in the middle of a temperate rain forest so make sure you bring along some mozzie repellent and be prepared for the occasional leech.

Outside the Visitor Centre which has a cafe is a playground, big checkers board and big chess board. The Centre has a cafe, souvenirs, lockers and seating both inside and outside.
