Oswin Roberts Reserve (Phillip Island)
Explore the last remaining remnant bushland on Phillip Island and spot a range of wildlife along the way including koalas, wallabies, possums, echidnas, bats and birds.
The Oswin Roberts Reserve offers a series of different walking and cycling tracks through the beautiful lush bushland.
The reserve is named in honour of Florence Oswin Roberts who donated this remnant woodland to the people of Victoria for the protection of koalas and their habitat.
Walks include:
- Oswin Roberts Circuit - 4.6km / 1.25 hours
- Woodland Loop - 2.8km / 45 minutes
- Melaleuca Loop - 1km / 30 minutes
Access for Dogs:
Dogs are not permitted.
Review:
There are three loop walks of varying lengths. You can start on the Circuit walk and if you decide on a shorter route, take the branch for the Woodland or Melaleuca loop. The path is wide gravel and very well sign-posted with maps. The paths can be walked or cycled.
We saw lots of wallabies beside the path but sightings of koalas here are very rare. At the north end of the reserve (along Cowes - Rhyll Road) there are views of extensive wetlands. The east side of the reserve is more pleasant because it is bushland beside the track while the west side of the reserve has one side beside open grazing land.
There are no facilities (picnic tables, toilets or water tap) but there are some seats to rest on during the walk and a shelter with seats at the Harbison Road carpark.
