Oakwood Riding School (Clyde North)
Established in 1958, Oakwood Riding School is the oldest riding school in Victoria offering lessons by NCAS EA qualified coaches on well educated school horses.
Oakwood Riding School is a not for profit, benevolent organisation dedicated to equestrian excellence.
Lessons
First Lesson - Your first lesson will be private, just you and your coach. The purpose of this lesson is to assess your riding ability and goals. Your coach will support you every step of the way, from bridling and mounting, right through to the dismount.
Your lesson will start 'on the lunge'. This is to ensure your safety and to help develop your confidence. Only when you are in control and feeling confident, will your coach remove the lunge line and you can start riding independently.
Achieving Your Goals - Our coaches are here to support you in achieving your goals! No matter how big or small the goal, your coach will help pave the way.
Lessons will be conducted in a planned and structured manner. Each lesson will build on the last, with the focus being on correct riding position and execution of movements.
Your progress will be determined only by you and your horse, with new lessons introduced only when you and your horse are truly ready.

School Holiday Program
Oakwood leads the way in equestrian education. We have developed structured learning programs for school aged children that are designed to provide core knowledge and skills relating to horse feeding, care and handling, and of course riding!
Our holiday programs are conducted by our Equestrian Australia qualified coaches, who all have current working with children checks. Our coaches have been running school holiday programs for many years, and are very experienced at teaching children safely and at each individual's own pace, whilst having plenty of fun along the way!
Agistment
Oakwood was designed from the ground up, with the vision to be a safe haven for horses.
All paddocks are serviced with fresh water (not bore water) and we have worming and weed management programs in place. At Oakwood there is no need for you to cart hay! Your horse will enjoy our home grown grass hay as a part of your agistment fee. We take pride in our hay, and strive to produce the best quality grass hay every year.
Every horse is unique! To make sure we keep every horse happy, we offer a number of agistment options for your consideration.

Facilities Hire
Available facilities include two indoor arenas, one outdoor arena, Cross Country course, dressage & showjumping equipment, day yards, float and truck parking, wash bays, conference room, outdoor barbeques, toilet and shower facilities, horse rug washing machine and lockers.

Membership
An Oakwood Membership provides you and your horse with daytime access to all of our facilities, including arenas, cross country course, wash bays, tie ups, and day yards.
As a member, you are welcome to visit as often as you like, enjoy the facilities and relax with a coffee or tea after your ride. We offer different types of membership and hope there is one to suit you.
