Neuman Track Dragons Nests (Kallista)
A magical surprise beckons for those who wander down Neuman Track.
A gravel road (car access is blocked by a gate) leads from a small car parking area off Grantulla Road through a lovely area of tall trees and shady fern trees for about 400m until you come to an open grassy area on the right.
There are about ten dragon nests made from tree branches scattered about this area. If you continue on along the track there is a second grassy area with another ten nests. The number of nests varies each visit.
There are a variety of styles for these cubby nests, some are open and airy, others are well enclosed and comfy while some others have used the bark raining down from a nearby tree as a construction material or the branches of a tree to create an elevated platform.
We don't know who has constructed these mysterious nests and why. Now that Erik von Daniken has cracked the mysteries of the Nazca lines in Peru, it might be time for him to turn his attention to the dragon nests of Neuman Track in Kallista.
Note: You can also find some nests at the Redwood Forest in Warburton.
Access for Dogs:
Cats, dogs, horses and trail bikes are all prohibited from this area.
