Murtoa - Water Tower Museum
The 1886 Railways water tower houses four floors of local artefacts and the famous James Hill taxidermy collection of over 500 birds, eggs and mammals which is over one hundred years old.
It also holds local community archives including family, schools, churches, organisations and transport records and photos; blacksmithing and farming hand tools, household implements and toys.
View the water tank underbelly and pully system on the top floor, learn about Murtoa's unique farming history, industry developments and notable achievers. Be astounded by Aboriginal artefacts and ingenious relic farming and household implements.
Explore the displays of German and Lutheran heritage and the longest ongoing Brass Band in Australia -the Coromby Brass Band. Admire wedding dresses and learn about the Rabbit Fur Coat story. Reflect on the military history of the local area.
