Mount Martha Bowls & Petanque Club
Set in a secluded, tranquil part of Mount Martha, the Club is known locally as a 'hidden gem', widely admired for its stunning views. Whether you are interested in playing lawn bowls or petanque, socialising in our fully licensed bar, barefoot bowls parties, or booking our exclusive function room - for family or corporate events - you will find a very warm welcome here, and much, much more.
Barefoot Bowls
Commencing Fridays in December and then going through to the end of February, Barefoot Bowls is for players of any age group, friends, family, and people from every walk of life can take part. Sessions start at 6.00 pm.
The Club has up to date bowls available in various sizes and you can use them at no cost. Coaches and Club members will be on hand to help you and explain the rules of the game.
A BBQ operates from 5.45 pm to satisfy your hunger pains, and the bar is open to satisfy your thirst, and to further add to your enjoyment.
The cost per player is only $10.00 for adults and $5 for children (under 12 years of age). This covers the bowls, insurance, prizes and the use of the Club's bar and other facilities for a 2 hours period.
Membership
Mount Martha Bowls, Petangue & Social Club offers a range of membership options to suit the needs of all bowlers.
We are mindful that many people prefer a gradual entry into the game of lawn bowls, not all bowlers immediately aspire to represent their club in the sport. So we offer a free 'Try Bowls' experience including coaching, then a full year gaining experience and settling into club life without the pressure to play in the fully competitive interclub competitions. During that time you can decide whether you want to continue just playing in designated social events or upgrade to a fully affiliated member.
For those who are ready to become full bowls members we offer a discounted fee for new bowlers including a Club Shirt, name badge and all Affiliation Fees for your first season.
Junior members are most welcome and pay a nominal affiliation fee.
For those wanting to play Petanque there are 2 options of either joining as a licensed member or as a Dual Member if already holding a license at another Petanque Club.
There are a number of other options for those wanting to play both Bowls & Petanque
Jack Attack
It's quick, social & fun. Change your perception about bowls, because Jack Attack is the new way to play social bowls.
Jack Attack is a fun and fast-paced format from the traditional form of lawn bowls, aimed to encourage participation with non-bowling members of the community. Jack Attack is super easy to play! It is a modified version from the traditional form of lawn bowls, with three players per team who each deliver their two bowls within an end, aiming to get as close as possible to the jack. The delivery of all six bowls completes an end, where teams then change direction of play and re-position the jack. Teams complete two sets of five ends to determine a winner, and should the sets be even, a sudden-death tie-break will be played. It's all over in 60-75 minutes!
