Mothers Beach (Mornington)
A coastal area with a choice of three beaches (Shire Hall Beach, Scout Beach and Mothers Beach) in one with a foreshore reserve and picnic facilities.
There is a continuous, 600 m long beach that begins as Mothers Beach in the western protected corner, then changes to Scout Beach in the centre and ends in the east as Shire Hall Beach. Beside the jetty at Snapper Point are a large car park, marina and boat ramp, with a 10 m high bluff backing Mothers Beach.
Swimming - Safest at Mothers and Scout Beaches, so long as you are clear of the boat traffic.
The beach has a General Beach Hazard Rating of 3/10 (Least hazardous)
Review:
If you go west past the orange unstable cliff which borders Scout beach, you will reach Mothers beach. The beach isn't very long but is sandy, wide and rock free. It is family friendly swimming with shallow waters.
There is a wooden staircase at the eastern end and a path at the western end for access from the Esplanade.
There are two unshaded tables and toilets with water taps and outdoor showers.
Follow the rock wall round past the car park to Mornington Pier and Schnapper Point.
